Farmer’s Green was one of the earliest additions to our reserve collection. While its delicate appearance might resemble a white tea, it stands as one of our most treasured green teas.

Producer

Sharad Subba of Jasbire Tea Garden in Ilam, Nepal. He has spent more than 20 years in the tea garden starting from a tea farmer and now a tea maker and owner of a factory that employs 15 workers and buys green leaves from over 72 farmers.

Production Process

Farmers' Green Tea is crafted using only the topmost leaf and tender terminal buds from two tea plant cultivars, Tagda-78 and SK-1, known for their small, delicate leaves. To maintain the vibrant green color, oxidation is swiftly halted. After harvest, the leaves are transported directly to the factory, where they rest briefly before being heated. They are then carefully rolled in a shaping machine to avoid bruising. Finally, the leaves undergo a re-drying process to eliminate any remaining moisture.

Origin

Jasbire Tea Village, Maipokhari, Nepal

Their dedication, passion, and expertise in every step of the tea-making process are what make Farmer’s Green so exceptional. This tea honors their relentless commitment to cultivating the highest quality tea, reflecting the heart and soul of the farmers who nurture the land and ensure that each leaf carries the rich heritage of Nepalese tea craftsmanship.

Showing my admiration & appreciation for the delightfully smooth buttery, vegetal notes in Farmers’ Green green tea. This was wonderful to sip. High praise.

Lovely, mellow green!

I had previously tried and loved the Shangri-La Oolong for its almost honey-like sweetness. The Farmer's Green is very similar, except a green tea. It is a lovely, mellow, sweet green - it's like drinking a breezy summer day in the shade. Having sampled the Ganesha Green and the Kanchanjangha Verde, Farmer's Green is definitely my favorite of the Nepal Tea greens. Not as strong as the Ganesha, perhaps, but overall I like the sweet, leafy flavor better on the Farmer's Green.

One of the best!

This is one of the best teas I've drank. It's such a unique tea. Normally I don't drink greens because they vegetal taste is too much for me. I initially thought I wasn't going to like it because it had that vegetal smell to it so I thought that's how it would taste, but I was completely wrong! It has a very light and floral like flavor and was very reminiscent of silver needle, but had a tingle to it with a nice long after taste. If you're a tea conissour, I would highly recommend giving this one a try when they have it in stock.
