I got a tea garden named after me in Nepal
My relationship with Nepal Tea began with the tiniest project ever, sourcing just 2 to 3 kilograms of tea for my company, Metolius Tea. After taking an incredible journey with Nepal Tea through so many of their tea gardens, they are now picking and producing a special spring harvest just for Metolius Tea. After touring the tea gardens, bonding with the warm people, dancing with the children of the mountains, Nepal Tea gave me a surprise I will always cherish: A tea garden named after Metolius Tea!

"Fresh and authentic insights into Nepali flavors & gastronomy"
My journey to Nepal deepened my understanding of the philosophy of the Camelia Sinensis plant on this planet. It was more than just about drinking tea, it was a journey that opened up an entirely new world of flavors to me. In Illam, I spend hours in Kiran & Kedar's kitchen, tasting vivid, new flavors in their sauces, and learning about their creative conservation and feneration processess. The warm, open and deeply hospitable nature of the home chef's Kedar and Kiran gave me detailed, fresh and authentic insights into Nepali flavors and gastronomy.

"Fully immerse myself in the pristine Nepali landscape"
Beyond the enchanting landscapes and culinary adventures, what truly made this tripunforgettable was the bond we formed with the people that we met. Shared laughter, conversations, andmoments of discovery during our time in Nepal would extend far beyond the duration of our journey, creating lasting friendships and connections that would endure.

"Very unusual in the life of an accountant like me!"
From dancing (OR shaking the booty) on the streets with Nepali children, dancing to English and Nepali folk songs, travelling through idyllic village towns with the founders and a troupe of flighty children packed into a rickety truck, just for the fun of it, visiting esoteric guides, artists and astrologers with insane, mind-blowing insight into your life, this trip with Nepal Tea Collective was a journey full of surprise and whimsy. The ad hoc, go with the flow nature of Nepal gave me a refreshing series of serendipitous, magical encounters -- very unusual in the life of an accountant like me!

"This experience reinforced our beliefs in specialty teas"
We recently toured Nepal's lush tea gardens and were amazed by what we saw. The ever-changing microclimate stresses the tea plants (in a good way), producing unique flavor compounds. Learning about the blend of Chinese and Indian processing methods was fascinating. Witnessing the challenges faced by Nepali farmers truly touched us. The work Nepal Tea Collective does to empower them is inspiring. This experience reinforced our beliefs in specialty teas, and we're excited to share these rich stories with our customers.

"This experience deepened my understanding of Nepali tea."
I was amazed by the intensity of the plucking process at the family farm. Seeing it in action gave me a new appreciation for why Nepali teas are so special. It was fascinating to witness the production process firsthand, especially coming from the US, where most processing is automated. Here, everything is much more manual due to the unique landscape. This experience highlighted the differences and deepened my understanding of the distinct character of Nepali teas.

"I gained so much knowledge about the growers and pickers."
I have just experienced one of the most delicious, satisfying, and extremely challenging opportunities to see the Nepalese tea industry in action. I learned a ton, but most of all, I gained so much knowledge about the growers and pickers, and how tea is appreciated in Nepal. I just want to say that if you ever have the opportunity to learn about Nepalese teas, then you gotta come. You gotta open your hearts as many people have done an excellent job opening their hearts for me. So take your choices of places to go and consider Nepal as one of those places that bring home a traditional experience.

It’s a no and a yes. According to the NHS, tea (Camellia sinensis) isn't suitable for babies and young children due to the caffeine content in tea leaves. But tea gardens are a sight to behold and we think witnessing the majesty of passionate tea makers will be a great experience for young minds. We will leave the decision up to you.

The best times of year to visit Nepal for warm weather are from early April to early June. The weather has a little nip in the air during late September to October. For our tea tours, summer months are perfect since this is when you will be able to get to witness the tea world in action. The tea gardens will be full of life with pluckers singing and talking as they pick young tea leaves and tea processing centers will run for days on end with producers’ heads completely in the game!

At the farms where you visit, it is definitely not required but please feel free to tip the cooks and other people if you’re happy with the service!
Nepal is a beautiful country and it’s safe to visit. We know we’re biased but Nepal is full of extremely friendly people and are known for their hospitality towards tourists and visitors.
