Producer

Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Center Pvt. Ltd. (KTERC) is the first certified organic tea garden in Nepal that was established in 1984. Mr. Deepak Prakash Banskota; Father of our founder Nishchal Banskota, took this initiative to rid his community out of poverty. Read more about his story here. Till this day, it remains a model social enterprise that runs on cooperative infrastructure and is truly focused on the triple bottom line of people and planet before profit.

Production Process

Nepali Breakfast is a black tea enriched with organic spices, based on our best-selling organic black tea; Kanchanjangha Noir. This blend features warming organic ginger, black cardamom, cinnamon leaf, and black pepper, delivering an authentic chai flavor reminiscent of traditional Nepali Chiya.

All the herbs and spices used in this blend are grown on our family farm, Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Center (KTERC), where they are hand-cultivated and carefully processed. Each herb is cleaned and dried to its specific requirements, then combined with our loose leaf black tea to create the unique and flavorful Nepali Breakfast chai tea.

Origin

Our tea estate thrives in the eastern region of Nepal, nestled in the foothills of Mt. Kanchanjangha, which is the third-highest mountain in the world. Located precisely near the western borders of Darjeeling, India and north of the Illam, the most famous tea growing region in Nepal, our small village enjoys the best of both worlds. Situated at an altitude of 1300-1800 meters (4,200 - 6000 feet), the area enjoys pristine Himalayan climatic conditions to produce highly unique and aromatic teas.

Who is Nepali Breakfast for?

This tea is perfect for masala chai enthusiasts. While it omits certain traditional Indian ingredients like green cardamom, cloves, and star anise, it offers a fresh take on chai with its simpler yet beautifully crafted flavor profile.

What happened to this tea?

The first time I ordered this tea, I absolutely loved it. It was incredible, and I couldn't stop telling people about it. But my current order has changed my mind. Something is different. This has become a very floral tea, not the comfortable breakfast tea I remember.

Perhaps along the way I destroyed my taste in a horrible acid factory accident, but I know that's not it. Something in the tea mixture has changed.

It's still an okay tea, but the floral punch in the face just isn't my thing, especially in the morning. Where have you gone, my old friend? Come back!

Oh no! We're truly sorry to hear that your recent order didn't live up to your past experiences. We totally understand that a floral 'punch in the face' isn't what you'd expect from your favorite morning tea!

Teas can vary based on changes in climate, harvest seasons, or even subtle differences in the spices used. We're taking your feedback seriously and have reached out to resolve this for you. Thanks for being such a loyal fan, and we'll do our best and promptly look into this matter.

Cheers,

Nepal Tea Collective Team

Very good

One of the better spiced chais I've ever had. I like it with oatmilk, but it's great on it's own as well. I would buy this in steady rotation.

Nepali Breakfast

One of the best “spiced” teas I’ve tasted. My family agrees.
