Camellia Sinensis (Green Leaves)

Sharad Subba of Jasbire Tea Garden in Illam, Nepal.

He has spent more than 20 years in the tea garden. Starting as a tea plucker and is now a tea maker and owner of a factory that employs 15 workers and buys green leaves from over 72 farmers.

Amaa Oolong is a very precious harvest to our producer. It's a heartfelt tribute to his mother's hand-beaten tea recipe and the countless ways she nurtured him throughout her life.

Aama Oolong isn't just tea, it's a story in every sip. Unlike most oolongs, this unique blend utilizes tea leaves harvested during the dormant 15 days following the first flush. These mature leaves, often disregarded by other producers, hold a special significance to our producer at Jasbire.

The journey begins with the leaves laid out to dry naturally under the warm sun. This gentle drying process allows the leaves to retain their subtle nuances. The heart of the process follows meticulous hand-beating. These sun-dried leaves are carefully placed in a large stone grinder and hand-beaten, a step that bruises the leaves and releases their hidden potential for flavor. After a night of rest, the leaves receive one last sunbath before entering an electric drying cabinet for the first time. This ensures consistent drying and preserves their unique character.

Through these meticulous steps, the hand-beaten leaves transform, unlocking a captivating blend of musky and citrusy fruity flavors, unlike any other oolong you've experienced. Each sip showcases a tale of tradition and the dedication that goes into crafting this exceptional tea.
