Kanchanjangha Tea Estate and Research Center Pvt. Ltd. (KTERC) is the first certified organic tea garden in Nepal that was established in 1984. Silver Needle white tea is the least processed of all tea types. With virtually no oxidation, this makes it one of the purest teas available. While its production process is simple, the real artistry lies in the precision and timing of plucking the finest, unopened buds from young tea bushes who are less than 50 years old, which sets it apart from older Indian and Chinese bushes. This results in a uniquely fresh, floral brew that’s unmatched in its delicacy.

The buds are hand-picked and left to dry naturally, allowing the moisture to evaporate slowly. What remains are shimmering silver buds covered in fine hairs, or trichomes, which protect the tender new growth. This abundance of trichomes gives Silver Needle its distinctive appearance and flavor, setting it apart as one of the most prized and expensive teas.

Our tea estate thrives in the eastern region of Nepal, nestled in the foothills of Mt. Kanchanjangha, which is the third-highest mountain in the world. Located precisely near the western borders of Darjeeling, India and north of the Illam, the most famous tea growing region in Nepal, our small village enjoys the best of both worlds. Situated at an altitude of 1300-1800 meters (4,200 - 6000 feet), the area enjoys pristine himalayan climatic conditions to produce highly unique and aromatic teas.

In ancient China, Silver Needle tea was once reserved exclusively for royalty. Today, its growing popularity, rarity, and unique flavor have inspired tea producers worldwide to craft their own versions.
